ELI360 is pleased to announce the launch of new programs with English Now!, an English language school located near Washington, DC. In addition, Paul Boesen, the managing director of English Now!, will join the ELI360 team as a business development advisor.

These new programs will enable ELI360 to offer a broader range of services to international students with an interest in studying in the United States, and Boesen’s addition to the ELI360 team signals its commitment to future development of its network of affiliate schools and its range of products and services.

New Program Offerings: First DaysUSA – Washington Welcome

ELI360 and English Now! will offer international students the opportunity to start their studies in the U.S. with a short-term program focused on English language and American culture. This program positions students for academic success in the U.S. and offers universities a program that assists them in preparing international students for the academic rigor that awaits them on campus.

This program, to begin in August 2009 in Bethesda, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC, will include the following:

  1. Language studies: High-level ESL, with particular attention to the classroom discussion skills and pronunciation that often affect international students’ success in the early months of their studies in the U.S.
  2. Acculturation: Orientation to American society, with sessions that address American youth culture, life on college campuses, and how to experience American culture beyond their schools.
  3. Success preparedness: Life skills sessions with focus on study habits, time management, and maintaining good health in a college environment.
  4. Study tours: Students will visit museums, monuments, and other tourist destinations in the U.S. capital, Washington, DC. In addition, students will take a day trip to New York City.

This program will be conducted over a period of three weeks immediately preceding the start of the academic year and will enroll a diverse set of students from around the world.

The transition to study abroad is a challenging one. The First DaysUSA program is designed to ensure that it is successful.
