Last month (February 2011), the Board of Trustees at University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (UMHB) approved a new campus master plan that will bring about the construction of over $100 million worth of new campus facilities over the next three to seven years.

Upon completion, the entire project will see several new buildings added to the UMHB Campus. The buildings in this proposal are listed as below:

-          A new academic building for UMHB’s Nursing Program.

-          A new Student Union building.

-          A new Center for the Visual Arts.

-          An on-campus Football Stadium.

-          A performance hall for Music and Theater productions.

The approval of this plan by UMHB’s Board of Trustees comes as a result of reviewing UMHB’s growth in the past 30 years, as well as anticipating the challenges of providing future UMHB students with a quality learning environment. The Board of Trustees decision to approve this immense expansion project is sign of UMHB’s continual dedication to improve as a university.

However, it is also important to realize that UMHB’s efforts in developing a state-of-the-art campus, is not an ends by itself, but merely a means to a greater goal. That greater goal is to see students at the UMHB gain more through their university education. At the end of the day, students are the ultimate priority.

ELI 360 is proud to be associated with a university that has an excellent vision for the future. We wish UMHB all the best in this expansion project. We also hope that students considering studying at a private Christian university will consider one of ELI 360’s partner universities.
